World's Best Selling Cut Flowers

Most flower arrangements can be taken care of in the same way once they arrive at their destination. In general, the advice is the same, only tiny details change between one species and another.

In the world of floral arrangements, there are no limits on combinations and flowers that you can add, that is, there are the three types of best selling flowers on the planet. It is feasible that you have received one of these three flowers and even a mix of them.

The three best-selling flowers in the world are Roses, Gerberas, and Lilies.

Roses

Roses

The Roses have hundreds of thousands of categories and subcategories. They have been the focus of countless hybrids in the past two centuries. They come from Asia and can already be cultivated perfectly as if they were native to Europe and America.

Roses love the soil with an acidic pH. That is the peculiarity of this flower, which makes its care different. The rest is very similar to general care for any flower.

How to take care of them

  • Place the Roses in a momentary container with clean water and take them out one by one. When you finish your personal treatment, put them back in the water.
  • Cut the stems 1 to 2 cm longitudinally or diagonally with a knife or very sharp scissors. Prune off any green leaves that may become submerged underwater. Remember to keep the roses out of the water as short as possible.
  • Find a vase (if the arrangement no longer came with its own jar) that is stable. Then you fill it with water at ¾ of its capacity, it does not have the possibility of tipping over. Thoroughly wash the vase with soap and water. Any trace of dust could shorten the life of the Roses.
  • Before adding the Roses, place inside the water a drop of chlorine to kill any bacteria, a teaspoon of sugar to give them food. To achieve the pH they like, two drops of lemon juice.
  • Finally, place the Roses in their new destination and enjoy them. Repeat the entire process every other day, from the cut to the water with the three elements. Lasting roses!
Gerberas

Gerberas

Their origin is African, from the geographical strip where the sun warms them all year round. This makes them exceptionally resistant and low maintenance flowers. They love the direct sun, that is, not a sun at 40 degrees, but a pleasant sun surrounded by a temperate temperature between 20 and 24 degrees.

These flowers look human, so if you like them, they might as well like you. That is why these flowers are easy to care, and their colors will always lift our spirits: their series goes through all the warm tones.

How to take care of them

  • Remove the Gerberas one by one and cut their stem about two cm diagonally. Prune almost all of its green leaves to avoid rotting underwater.
  • Gerberas are usually abundant in bouquets, so we recommend a vase large enough not to hinder their oxygenation or distribute them in two or more jars. One of the common mistakes is wanting to see the dense vessel of Gerberas, and these have little space to carry out their development processes.
  • Fill the vase (s) to ¾ of their capacity and add a drop of chlorine to kill any bacteria in the water and one or two teaspoons of sugar to provide food.
  • Although Gerberas do not change their water frequently, we must see daily whether a petal fell into the water and remove it immediately.
  • After 3 or 4 days, repeat the whole process from re-cutting the stems to adding chlorine and sugar to the water. Those Gerberas will last days and days!
Lilies

Lilies

Lilies are tropical flowers. What Lilies like most is humidity, they need that daily dew that their area of origin gives them.

Due to scientific advances, this flower is available all year round, not because it is always in bloom; Lilies only blooms once every season. But because there are different crops worldwide that make it flourish at different times, which covers its production over time without it disappearing.

How to take care of them

  • Cut the stems of the Lilies 2 cm from the tip crosswise to absorb more liquid. Remove any leaves from the stem that may be under the water in the vase.
  • Use a vase wide enough at the base to balance the large flowers that the Lilies have to offer, avoiding falls that can hit their delicate petals.
  • Fill the vase to ¾ of its capacity with clean water, adding a drop of chlorine to kill bacteria in the water and a tablespoon of sugar so that it is well fed.
  • Every day with a diffuser or spray, spray filtered water on the remaining green leaves and on the protruding stem, never on the petals. If it is hot or humid, there is no need to do this, as the heat will cause the vase water to evaporate, creating the moisture they need.
  • Repeat the entire process every two days, from cutting the stems to placing your bactericide and food in the water.

Sponges in Flower Arrangements

Sponges in Flower Arrangements

Some of our arrangements come with stems embedded in sponges. Baskets, glass containers that are tray-style, and other arrangements that need a more rigid structure.

Sponges not only keep flowers in a specific position for a particular purpose but also contain all the nutrients necessary for the plant to live much longer.

The only care that sponges deserve is to always keep them moist, not soggy, not nearly dry: Wet. They must be touched daily to recognize their condition. If the sponge is not wet, it will be tough for the flowers to absorb the nutrients it provides. If it is very wet, the stems could rot more quickly, ending the life of our beloved flowers.

No more excuses! Your flowers have more life, and you have more happiness. Make those beautiful flowers you received last much longer with these primary care for cut flowers.
